UEFA has confirmed that the 2021 UEFA Champions League Round 16 Draw will be redone at 2:00GMT following a material error involving Premier League club, Manchester United during Monday’s draw.

United finished top of their group and were originally drawn to face Villarreal in the Round of 16, which should not have been possible as Villarreal qualified from the same group as the English club.

The Red Devils were then seemingly omitted from the teams which were drawn to face Atletico Madrid, despite being one of the teams eligible to face the Spanish champions.

They were eventually drawn against French giants, Paris Saint-Germain, in arguably the toughest tie of the round.

Many observers of the draw were astounded that such a major error had been committed, which some calls for the draw to be redone.

The initial “draw has been declared void and will be entirely redone” UEFA said.

Following a technical problem with the software of an external service provider that instructs the officials as to which teams are eligible to play each other, a material error occurred in the draw for the UEFA Champions League Round of 16.”

Some conspiracy theories suggests that. UEFA intentionally planned for a top game between Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo for commercial purposes.
