Private hostel facilities around the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology have been directed to allow their residents to remain in the facilities until the end of the academic year following an update in the calendar.
The academic year which was supposed to end on Saturday, August 21, 2021, was later shifted to Friday, September 17, 2021, over the suspension of the strike that was embarked on by the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG); and the suspension of the withdrawal of teaching and related activities by its members.
Students who then raised concerns about their tenancy in some of the private hostels were assured that they would be allowed to stay till the end of the updated academic calendar.
Subsequently, students were asked to report to the Dean of Students office should they find themselves facing problems with the management of their hostels.
Students were also assured that they would not pay any extra amount of money for staying in the hostels.
“Hostels are to allow students stay over till the end of the updated academic calendar.
