Emma Amanusu and Gifty Awuku are health workers from the University Hospital, Legon administering the vaccine to the staff and volunteers.

Persons eligible to get vaccinated include front-line health workers, adults aged 60 years and above, people with underlying health conditions such as diabetes, kidney diseases, hypertension, cancer, frontline security personnel, frontline government officials, the media, and all front-line workers in the formal sector.

Also, persons 15 years and above can take the vaccine.

Editor of UniversNewsroom, Mawuena Azumah explained the need for volunteers and staff to get vaccinated.

“In our line of duty, we encounter several people in a day. If we want to stay safe and healthy then it is important that we get the jab not only to protect ourselves but also our family, friends, and the individuals we engage with in our day-to-day activity.”

President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo delivered his 27th address to Ghanaians on the measures taken by the government to fight the COVID-19 disease on Wednesday, December 15, 2021.

President Akufo-Addo spoke about a variety of issues including some of the conspiracy theories ongoing against the vaccines. According to him, this is not the right time for such an action to be taken.

“We are monitoring the level of threat of the disease and ongoing vaccinations in our neighboring countries, and, as soon as we are satisfied that it is safe to do so, the borders will be opened. Until then, I believe this is not the right time to reopen our land borders, especially as we are determined to prevent the 4th wave, and, as such, they will remain closed until further notice,” the President stated.
