‘Trotro’ passengers will soon pay fares through MoMo – Dr Bawumia
Ghana’s Vice-President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has hinted “trotro passengers” nationwide will soon be able to pay their transport fares from their mobile money accounts.
The mobile money (MoMo) payment is the preferred, simple and easiest way of transferring money to relatives, business partners and almost everybody across the country.
The Vice-President of the Republic of Ghana disclosed this in an interview on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo show with host Kwame Sefa Kayi on Tuesday, August 25, 2020, monitored by Georgeweb.org.
According to him, the Republic of Ghana is the only country in Africa using a Mobile Money Interoperability in the fashion that it has been developed under the Akufo-Addo administration.
Dr Mahamudu Bawumia further disclosed the Akufo-Addo government is also initiating a universal Quick Response (QR) code to amalgamate all the telecom networks to ensure transactions are done universally across the nation.
The Economist continued that “In so doing, it will be possible for transport bus passengers to pay from the accounts to promote a cashless system”.
