‘We’ll provide free WiFi for SHSs, tertiary in second term’ – Bawumia
Ghana’s Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia says the Akufo-Addo led government in its second term, probably 2021 will provide Senior High Schools (SHSs) and tertiary institutions in the country with free WiFi.
Dr Bawumia speaking at his party’s 2020 manifesto launch disclosed the process for the implementation of the free WiFi which has already started is expected to be completed 2021.
The Vice President further explained that the initiative is to enhance students level of Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) education and research.
Meanwhile, the Communications Minister, Ursula Owusu Ekufful in an interview monitored by Georgeweb.org hinted the government is on course in implementing the free WiFi project next year.
The Member of Parliament for Ablekuma West Constituency said the government is taking advantage of the temporal closure of schools amid the novel coronavirus to complete the infrastructure roll-out to enable the provision of these services.
