The National Youth Organiser of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) Henry Nana Boakye popularly known as Nana B has claimed that students who have tested positive for coronavirus in Senior High Schools brought the disease from their homes.
The Organiser speaking at a party event held in Kumasi Tuesday July 14 said: “it is necessary to note that students who have tested positive for COVID-19 did not even contract the virus on their respective campuses, this is another strong point, that all of these cases, they brought it from their various homes”.
Henry Nana Boakye’s comment follows the repeated cases of the locally transmitted coronavirus recorded in some Senior high Schools across the country.
Meanwhile, the National Youth Organiser was in the news this week for touring some Senior High Schools in Greater Kumasi to allegedly campaign for the Akufo-Addo government.
However, the Deputy Minister for Education, Dr Osei Yaw Adutwum in an interview condemned the action of his party member, adding that he will be dealt with accordingly by the Ghana Education Service.
A joint statement issued by the Ghana Education Service (GES) and the Ghana Health Service (GHS) copied to Georgeweb.org confirmed that at least some 55 students and staff at the Accra Girls Senior High School (SHS).
Some pressure groups, stakeholders, and the opposition NDC party following the spread of the virus among students have called on the Akufo-Addo government to consider closing down schools before another pandemic hits the schools.
