COVID-19: Source predicts school reopening date for January 2021

A stakeholder in the education sector has said the government might announce January 18, 2021, as a school reopening date for Basic schools with a switch from 3-term to a 2-semester academic year system for Junior High Schools.

The Executive Director of Africa Education Watch, Mr Kofi Asare in a social media post sighted by Educationweb.com.gh said this will enable more contact time for teaching to recover loss contact hours amid COVID-19.

“We will likely switch from the 3-term to a two-semester academic year system for JHS, commencing January 2021, to enable more contact time for teaching, occasioned by 10 months of COVID-19 induced school closures”
