The Ghana National Council of Private Schools (GNACOPS) following January 2021 school reopening assurance has petitioned the Government of Ghana to give exact date students in the country will return to classrooms.
President Nana Akufo-Addo in his first televised nation’s address directed for the closure of all schools amid the outbreak of the novel virus but later announced that students will return back to school January 2021.
He noted that prospective learners in January 2021 will start the 2020/2021 academic year as second-year students in Junior High School (JHS) and Senior High Schools (SHS) recently completed the 2019/2020 academic year
The Council of Private Schools however has suggested that the His Excellency Akufo-Addo giving exact date schools would reopen next year will help private schools prepare adequately to welcome the students.
“Mr President, what tentative date in January 2021 have you decided for schools to reopen in order for us to adequately prepare”, it said in a social media post sighted by Georgeweb.org.
According to a source, next year school reopening has been scheduled for January 18, 2021. It, however, remains unconfirmed until the Ministry of Education under the auspices of the government announce so.
