2020 WASSCE: question leakage improved performance in core maths – Kofi Asare

The Executive Director of Africa Education Watch, Mr Kofi Asare has attributed the tremendous improvement in this year’s WASSCE for School Candidates core mathematics to question leakage on social media.
According to him, candidates who sat for the 2020 West African Senior School Certificate Examination performed well in the English Language but attributed the enormous improvement in the core mathematics to leakage.
“Great Improvement in English; as for Math, the admitted leakage has helped tremendously. After all the leakage, we only maintained the same 65% recorded last year”, he stated on social media.
The management of West African Examinations Council in an earlier statement shared with Georgeweb.org admitted the core mathematics question leaked hours before the conduct of the national examination.
The Executive Director further said despite the mass question leakage on the public domain the country maintained the same 65% score recorded in 2019.

Meanwhile, the management of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has withheld over 60,000 candidates result amid their alleged involvement in examination malpractice.
