COVID-19: Not the best time to write WASSCE but I wish you success – Mahama
Former President and flag bearer of the opposition NDC party, John Dramani Mahama has wished all the 375, 737 candidates best of luck in their final examination, adding that “this is certainly not the best of times to sit for an exit examination”.
As the 2020 WASSCE for school candidates begins today Monday, July 20, 2020, some 375, 737 candidates in the 170 Senior High Schools across the country are expected to sit for the much-awaited examination.
This year’s candidates will be the first batch of free SHS beneficiaries to sit for the WASSCE in the country.
President Akufo-Addo in one of his nation’s addresses announced for schools to be reopened to only final year students to enable them continue with academic activities and prepare to sit for their final examinations.
President Akufo-Addo yesterday July 19, 2020 in a statement wished all 2020 WASSCE candidates the best of luck as they prepare to write their final examination.
Following the steps of President Akufo-Addo, the flag bearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Dramani Mahama on his Facebook timeline said “Best wishes to our gallant WASSCE candidates who are beginning their exams today. This is certainly not the best of times to sit for an exit examination, but bear in mind that you have made yourself, your parents and the entire nation proud for your outstanding courage to write at this time”.
He added that “Ghana has for successive years been known and celebrated for producing the best WASSCE results in West Africa, and that is why, you, even before stepping into the examination hall, are already our heroes. Nothing can change that”.
Mahama assured the prospective candidates that his prayers and that of the over 30 million Ghanaians will stay with them every single day until the end of the last paper.

He, however, entreated all persons associated with the conduct of the examination particularly candidates to observe the COVID-19 preventive protocols before during and after the exams.
