Mr. Daniel Fenyi, an Educationalist has said the Akufo-Addo led government, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) might use the Akufo-Addo graduate’s results as a campaign message should the candidates pass the forthcoming 2020 WASSCE.
He explained that since the final year students are the first batch of the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) policy, Akufo-Addo in his power will do anything to make the students pass with good results and protect the policy.
His comment follows President Akufo-Addo’s permission for schools to be reopened to the final year and form 2 Gold track Senior High School students despite the surge in Ghana’s COVID-19 cases.
His Excellency Nana Akufo-Addo on March 16 this year directed for the closure of all schools across the country as part of safety measures to curb and slow the spread of the novel deadly virus that has as of the time writing this post claimed 95 lives.
The President in his 12th televised nation’s address monitored by Georgeweb.org indicated that SHS 3 students will be in school for six weeks intensive teaching and learning after which they will write the 2020 WASSCE for school candidates scheduled to commence from August 3, 2020.
The Educationalist in an exclusive interview with Reynolds Agyemang on ‘Pae Mu Ka’ on Accra-based Kingdom FM 107.7, said: “the partial reopening of schools is a good move, however, students cannot continue the stay at home amid the pandemic, since no one knows its ending date”.
He added that “Headmaster, teachers and schools management needs to put adequate measures in place to curb the global pandemic, so that students do not come home after two weeks infected with the virus.
Mr. Daniel Fenyi advised Heads of all Senior High Schools and teachers to use their management skills to control students from contracting the novel coronavirus that has no cure.
