NDC will absorb 50% of university fees for next academic year – Jane Naana

The next NDC administration under the auspices of John Dramani Mahama will absorb fifty per cent of fees for tertiary students for the 2020/2021 academic year in 2021, former Education Minister, Jane Naana has stated.

According to the leading member of the opposition NDC, her party when declared the winner after the forthcoming general elections will as part of efforts absorb 50% of university fees for students amid the impact of the novel coronavirus on business and the country’s economy.

The running mate of NDC’s flagbearer, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang announced the next NDC administrations plans for tertiary students giving highlights of the NDC 2020 manifesto monitored by Georgeweb.org on Monday, September 7, 2020.

“We know how the locally transmitted coronavirus has impacted the already weak economy, so that is why the NDC government will absorb 50 % of fees for university students for the 2020/2021 academic year as an incentive to reduce the impact of COVID-19 on students and parents”.

The former Education Minister also said the next Mahama administration will include Private Senior High Schools in the Free Senior High School programme despite the Akufo-Addo government has ignored them.

Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang also hinted that her party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government in 2021 has plans to increase the amount of student loan.
