The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has not officially announced the release of the 2020 Nov/Dec Index Numbers of candidates, however, we have noticed some candidates are able to check theirs.
We urge candidates whose Index Numbers are not yet out to relax and wait for a confirmation from the Council as those with their out are facing technical challenges in checking their centres, here is a complaint received.
“I have checked my Index number and it has come but when I check my centres and provide the information, it says invalid. Please how do I check my centres?”
What is WAEC Nov/Dec Index Number?
The WAEC Index Number is a 10 digit proof of eligibility issued by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) to candidates sitting for the WASCCE for Private Candidates examination at the examination hall.
Prospective Nov/Dec candidates will also need it when checking the Nov/Dec results or performing certain actions online.
How to get WAEC 2020 Nov/Dec index number
The WAEC Index Number can be obtained by a candidate that has completed the WAEC registration. The 10-digit Index Number will be generated by the Council and made available online from at a later date.
Candidates will need the WAEC PIN/invoice Number to obtain their Index Number and admission notice on the stated date.

- Enter your Invoice Number in the space provided.
- Click on ‘fetch Index sheet’ to access your Index Number
- Print your Index Number for reference purposes4
Note: Browsers like Firefox and Chrome could display a warning message that is considered an error. When this happens, you should find out ways to get back on track.
If the error message persists, you ought to click on details then visit the site in order to resume. Once the site opens, you should proceed by entering your invoice number which will eventually generate your WAEC index number for Nov/Dec examination.
How to verify your Nov/Dec Index Number
After obtaining your WAEC Index Number following the details above. The next step is the Index Number verification process. The following steps will help you verify your WAEC Ghana Index Number.
- Log onto the Nov/Dec registration website here
- Enter your Invoice Number in the blank space provided.
- Click on ‘fetch Index sheet’.
- Provide your name and date of birth in the respective areas.
- Finally, click on the ‘continue button’ to access and verify your WAEC index number.
