The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) after the release of results issues BECE certificate to a prospective candidate who sat for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in a particular year (2020).

2020 BECE graduates are expected to visit their completed Junior High School (JHS) in person for the collection of the certificate as the Council will not take responsibility for any damages after been distributed to the school.

WAEC in a blogpost sighted by Georgeweb.org on its website has indicated it produces the certificate once and does not replace it when lost or damaged

The Examinations Council, however, said lost or damaged certificates are now replaced with attestation which is just similar to the original certificate

According to the non-profit-making organization, the BECE certificates of candidates are issued or sent to all Junior High Schools (JHSs) across the country 6 months after the results of the examination are released online.
