Eating food is a very important and essential part of being a human being and it can not be ignored. Every day, we need to eat. In fact, we can not live without food at all, it isn’t possible. No one can survive without eating any food for days, because food is what keeps us healthy and strong. Food is life and all over the world, we have the availability of healthy meals.
A good meal is important for a healthy life, however, there are certain things which we should always avoid doing while eating and also after eating, in order not to jeopardize our health. There are so many habits or behaviours which a person should avoid doing after eating a meal because they may cause discomfort, vomiting, bloating, indigestion and lots more.
I’m pretty sure that nobody wants to be uncomfortable or start feeling sick after eating delicious food. That is why we should always keep these things we shouldn’t do at the back of our mind. Running immediately after eating is actually one of the worst things a person could do to themself. It is very dangerous and unhealthy as well. Please don’t run until at least 1 hour after eating.
2. Sleeping on your stomach.
Going to bed or sleeping immediately after eating a heavy meal is very dangerous to your body system, but it’s even more dangerous when you sleep on your stomach. This increases your chances of suffering from a stroke or heart attack. It also causes you a lot of discomfort and gas pain. After eating, wait for at least 1 hour before going to sleep.
3. Drinking Tea Or Coffee.
Tea and coffee are beverages and they should not be consumed immediately after a meal because they will make it hard for your body to absorb iron from the food you ate. It can also cause dizziness, loss of appetite and anaemia.
A lot of people might argue with me on this one, but it is absolutely true. Researchers at Yale University have shown that, if a person bathes immediately after eating, it will reduce the blood flow around their stomach area thereby causing weak digestion of the food and this leads to bloating.
5. Smoking cigarettes.
Over the years, so many research studies have shown that, smoking 1 cigarette immediately after a meal is the same as smoking 10 cigarettes at once. It will increase your risk of lung cancer and bowel cancer by far. Please avoid it.
6. Brushing your teeth.
Many people are very fond of brushing their teeth immediately after eating a meal. This is actually a very unhealthy routine which you shouldn’t do. Wait for at least 1 hour before brushing your teeth after a meal, to be on a safer side.
7. Drinking water.
We all know that drinking water is also a very essential part of life, as well as eating. However, drinking water immediately after eating is not a healthy habit because it disrupts proper digestion. Wait for at least 30 minutes.
