The leadership of the Teacher Trainees Association of Ghana (TTAG) says it will in due course launch what could be described as Ghana’s first-ever mobile application for public Colleges of Education (CoE) students in the country.
The soon to launch mobile App, the Association of Ghana Teachers in a post sighted by EducationWeb.com.gh on Monday said is almost at the completion stage and can be downloaded at Google Play Store and Apple Store.
In a related development, the Management of the National Teaching Council (NTC) following a directive by the Minister for Education, Dr Yaw Adutwum has opened its past questions portal dubbed PortaPrep for graduate teachers.
The PortaPrep a staff of the National Teaching Council (NTC) has told EducationWeb.com.gh will enable graduate teachers seeking to write the teacher licensure examination to practise adequately before sitting for the test.
The Education Minister last year after the majority of teachers who sat for the first phase of the Ghana teacher licensure examination in May 2021 failed the national teachers test tasked the Council to develop the past questions website.
“I have instructed the NTC to create a web portal with thousand’s of sample questions for people to have the opportunity to practice and use to prepare to sit for the national examination,” he told President Akufo-Addo last year.
Hon Yaw Osei speaking to His Excellency Nana Akufo-Addo disclosed that the Management NTC lowered the 2021 May teacher licensure examination pass mark, but most candidates, unfortunately, could not beat the cut.
“I don’t want to talk about the GTLE pass mark which was set for the May 2021 licensure examination, it was brought so low that yet some candidates did not beat the pass mark,” the Teaching Minister told Nana Akufo-Addo.
Prospective graduate teachers who wish to take a test before they sit for the next Ghana teacher licensure examination (GTLE) early this year can visit https://www.gtleghana.com/ and click on ‘Free Test’ on the homepage of the site.
The Management of the National Teaching Council (NTC) has disclosed plans are underway for teachers and the public to download the App version of the past question portal on their smartphone from Google Play Store and Apple Store.
