The Chief Executive Officer of IMANI Centre for Policy and Education, Mr Franklin Cudjoe has described President Akufo-Addo as a responsible for father for his timely intervention to have the erred 13 students continue with their final examination.
According to the IMANI founding President in a Facebook post sighted by GeorgeWeb said “I think the President did well by intervening to have the students who gravely insulted and abused his person pardoned to enable them to write exams at least’.
‘This is what responsible fathers do. It is no different from JM’s decision to show clemency to the vagabond Montie 3 after thousands signed a petition for that outcome”.
A statement dated August 9, 2020, from the Office of the President, noted that despite the final year students indiscipline act which the Presidency highly condemn they need to be pardoned.
His Excellency in the statement signed by his spokesperson said: “I believe the dismissal alone is a huge punishment for the students and will serve as enough deterrent against future acts of indiscipline”.
President Akufo-Addo furthered that everyone deserves a second chance in life and he is, therefore, asking the Ghana Education Service (GES) under the auspices of the Ministry of Education (MoE) to recall the dismissed and barred students to partake the ongoing examination.
However, the Ghana Education Service (GES) is yet to respond to the President’s call to recall the 14 indiscipline final year Senior High School students to partake the WASSCE for School Candidates.
