Students of the Accra Girls Senior High Schools (SHS) have staged a demonstration on campus urging the management of the school to permit them to go home following COVID-19 recorded cases in the school, Georgeweb.org can confirm.
At least six students of the school are said to have tested positive for the novel coronavirus that has killed 112 lives as of July 6, 2020.
Meanwhile, a teacher who spoke to Georgeweb.org on condition of anonymity confirmed that 6 of the students had as reported been isolated after showing symptoms similar to that of the deadly coronavirus.
He furthered that “even though eleven students were suspected but after running several COVID-19 tests on them, 6 tested positive but have been transferred to a COVID-19 treatment centre”.
In a new development, some concerned parents have reportedly started withdrawing their wards from the school over fears of the deadly disease.
Some parents said the temporal withdrawal of their kids from the school follows media reports indicating that 6 students have contracted the novel coronavirus.
A parent who spoke to a journalist said her child was asthmatic and that could not risk having her contracting the disease.
The authorities of the Accra Girls Senior High School (SHS) is yet to speak about the demonstration and COVID-19 cases.
