According to Georgeweb.org source close to the Accra Girls Senior High School, some concerned parents and guardians have reportedly started withdrawing their wards from the school amid coronavirus fears.
The temporal withdrawal of wards from the school according to some parents follows a media report indicating that at least six students of the school have tested positive for the deadly novel coronavirus that has claimed 122 lives as of July 6, 2020.
A parent who spoke to a journalist said her child was asthmatic and that could not risk having her contracting the disease.
However, other parents were denied entry into the school upon their arrival at the main gate to pick up their kids from the school.
Some parents accused the management of the school the Accra Girls Senior High School (SHS) for fear and panic alleging that none of the students were tested for the virus when schools resumed on June 22 and the subsequent days of the reopening week.
Meanwhile, a male teacher who spoke to Georgeweb.org on phone confirmed that some students had as reported been isolated after showing symptoms similar to that of the deadly coronavirus.
He confirmed the number of students to be 6, explaining that “even though 11 students were suspected but after running several COVID-19 tests on them, 6 tested positive but have been transferred to a COVID-19 treatment centre”.
