Following media reports of COVID-19 cases recorded in Accra Girls’ Senior High School (SHS), some concerned parents Monday morning July 6, 2020, stormed the school premises requesting for their wards to be released.
News went viral on Sunday, July 5, 2020, that at least six students of the Accra Girls’ Senior High School have tested positive of the novel coronavirus that has claimed 122 lives as of the time writing this post.
A teacher who spoke to Georgeweb.org on condition of anonymity confirmed that 6 of the students had as reported been isolated after showing symptoms similar to that of the deadly coronavirus.
He furthered that “even though eleven students were suspected but after running several COVID-19 tests on them, 6 tested positive but have been transferred to a COVID-19 treatment centre”.
According to some students, the food served at the dining hall was not to their satisfaction, and also school management would not allow them to make alternative arrangements for food.
Some alleged that they were being maltreated by the school management and wanted the Education Minister and other relevant stakeholders to come to their aid.
Meanwhile, the students earlier staged a demonstration urging the management of the school to allow them to go home over COVID-19 fears.
