List SHSs to compete for 2021 NSMQ championship title

A total of 199 Senior High Schools (SHSS) from the 16 Regions of the country will commence this year’s edition of the popular (National Science and Maths Quiz) NSMQ championship, Organizers of the programme said on Monday.

Primetime, the sponsors of the quiz programme in a post sighted by EducationWeb.com.gh said the 199 Senior High Schools from October 26, 2021, will start the preliminary stage divided into 8 Regions and Zones of the contest

“This year’s National Championship will begin with preliminary stage contests featuring 119 Schools from the 16 Regions of Ghana divided into 8 Regions & Zones,” the Science and Maths Quiz promoters stated in the post.

According to them, the preliminary stage of the quiz will commence for schools in the Greater Accra Region on October 26, 2021, and on October 28 to 29, 2021 for Northern Zone, Western Zone and Central Region.

Senior High Schools (SHSs) in the Bono-Ahafo Zone and Eastern Region will begin their preliminary stage on November 1 to 2, 2021 and Volta Oti-Zone and Ashanti Region also on November 4 to 5, 2021.

Balloting for the 2021 edition of the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) preliminaries, Primetime said will take place on October 26, 2021, the day of the preliminary stage which will end on November 5, 2021.

One-Eighth stage to semifinals of the National Science and Maths Quiz competition the sponsors said will start from Friday, November 12, 2021, to November 23, 2021, and the grand finale on Tuesday, November 26, 2021.

Started in 1993 and produced by Primetime Limited, the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) is an annual science and mathematics content-based national level quiz competition for Senior High Schools across the country.

The quiz is to promote the study of science and mathematics, help students develop quick thinking and a probing and scientific mind about the everyday world around them while fostering healthy academic rivalry among SHSs.

The popular National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) is the longest-running educational programme on Ghanaian television. It is broadcast on GTV during the quiz season every Saturday at 11 am and Wednesdays at 4 pm.
