SHS student tests positive for COVID-19 – Dr Aboagye

A second-year student of an undisclosed Senior High School (SHS) in the country has reportedly tested positive for the locally transmitted coronavirus that has claimed at least 130 lives, officials disclosed Monday.

Dr Dacosta Aboagye speaking to JoyNews monitored by Georgeweb.org refused to give the name of the student but said the patient is currently receiving treatment at a health centre and the situation is under control.

“The parents have been informed and the person is currently having a little symptom and is under treatment”, Dr Dacosta Aboagye noted.

According to the Chairperson of Ghana’s Coronavirus Response team, the student might have contracted the transmitted virus from and started experiencing symptoms at school.

“But for many other schools we’ve not had any, compared to the very first time the schools were opened, here it’s been quite safe and nothing has happened apart from this one,” the official added.

The Chairperson further assured parents of their wards’ safety, adding that all schools nationwide are currently being monitored

“Our Regional Director, our District Director will continue to do their monitoring and then we’ll keep on updating because so far we’ve not had any significant update anywhere”, he assured.
