Adeiso SHS ‘sacks’ students after showing COVID-19 symptoms

The management of Adeiso Senior High School in the Eastern Region has reportedly left some students of the school to their fate to deal with the locally transmitted coronavirus that has claimed at least 139 lives.

Reports indicate that the Adeiso Senior High School (SHS) in contrary to President Akufo-Addo directive does not have an isolation centre and health personnel on campus.

Meanwhile, President Akufo-Addo in one of his nation’s addresses directed for all Senior High Schools (SHS) to reserve an isolation centre and get health personnel to attend to COVID-19 cases.

According to a GhanaWeb source, the headmaster of the school, Doe Adzrago, two weeks permitted four students to go home and self-isolate after they showed symptoms of the virus without informing their parents.

The source said the action taken by the Headmaster follows a coronavirus test on the four students.

Currently, the test results have not yet been released to know their health status.

According to GhanaWeb, Samuel Gyansah of Adeiso Health Clinic when contacted admitted that a student from the Adeiso SHS was at the facility, and samples were taken for testing after he exhibited signs of the global pandemic.

Speaking in the interview Samuel Gyansah said “only one person came here. We have a team that takes the sample when you are suspected to have contracted coronavirus so we called that team and I think the sample was taken”.

samples of the other three were taken after contact tracers found out they took the first student to the hospital. They were then asked to isolate pending the release of their results.
