The Ghana National Council of Private Schools (GNACOPS) following delays of payment of the stimulus package to private school teachers in the country has petitioned the Akufo-Addo government to disburse the loans.
The Council in a statement copied to Georgeweb.org assured its member’s urgent measures are being put in place to drum home their plights to the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo about the delay in disbursing the loan to us.
According to the Management of the Ghana National Council of Private Schools (GNACOPS), the following steps/measures have been taken
1. A petition has been written on the delay of the payment of the stimulus package, etc, which will be circulated to the appropriate offices tomorrow, Tuesday 1st, September 2020.
2. On Wednesday, 2nd September 2020, we will hold a press conference to further drum home our issues proper.
GNACOPS in the view of the above is urging all concerned citizens, stakeholders and the media to sign the petition before it is finally submitted to the Office of the President latest by tomorrow September 1, 2020.
The Council, therefore, has provided a Google form here for interested persons to fill accordingly to support private school teachers who since the unexpected closure of schools has been home for almost 6 months with no salary.
His Excellency in his 16th televised nation’s address indicated all schools would be reopen January 2021, which means majority of the private school teachers in the country are going to suffer more until 2021 amid COVID-19.
