The Management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) following social media reports that the green, gold track SHS students date to report to school has been extended says the Senior High School calendar has not been changed.
GES in a statement copied to EducationWeb.com.gh said first-year or Form 1 gold track students will resume school on Monday, October 11, 2021. and Form 2 gold track students on Saturday, October 30, 2021, to start academic work.
“Form 1 Gold students resumed school today October 11, 2021and Form 2 Gold students are expected to resume on Saturday, October 30, 2021, as indicated on the 2021 academic calendar,” the GES Management stated in the release.
The Education Service has consequently urged Authorities of the public Senior High Schools in the country to stick to the 2021 SHS academic calendar submitted to them on June 30, 2021, and circulated the same to staff and students.
In a related development, the Institute for Education Studies (IFEST), following the fire incident at the Nyinahin Catholic Senior High School, has called on GES to review disciplinary measures to maintain sanity in schools in the country.
According to Education Studies, the indiscipline in various educational institutions has graduated from the mere chanting of war songs, boycotting of dining to the attacking of invigilators, staff and destroying properties.
“These are worrying trends and needs to be nipped in the bud before they get out of hand. It has been observed that after registering for their final exams, some students tend to be very indisciplined causing series of problems,” it said.
