GES as the selection of schools for the computer placement ends December 14, 2021, has urged parents and guardians assisting their wards in the process to sign the school selection register after the preferred schools have been chosen.
This a staff of the Ghana Education Service (GES) has told EducationWeb.com.gh is to ensure a smooth placement of the prospective candidates who sat for the 2021 BECE for School into various SHSs, SHSTSs and TVETs early next year.
According to the 2021 school register, all the second cycle institutions have been grouped into 4 categories; Category A, B, C and D. All Technical and Vocational Education institutions have also been categorised into A, B, C and D.
Candidates are requested to select 6 schools as their 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th choice of schools from Category (A, B, C and D) in other of preference. They must also select programmes and accommodation for each selected school.
They according to the Ghana Education Service (GES) must choose a compulsory day as their 6th choice (Catchment Area School) or choose a boarding school from the list of schools in Appendix 3 of the 2021 BECE school register.
Students who wish to offer purely TVET Programmes must select all 6 TVETS schools from Category A, B and C as Day or Boarding. Candidates cannot choose more than 1 school from Category or more than 2 schools from Category B.
The Ghana Education Service as part of efforts to promote Technical and Vocational Education has updated the 2021 school selection register with 139 Technical and Vocational Education and Training Service (TVETS) institutions.
The nationwide school selection exercise which commenced Monday, November 29, 2021, is expected to end on Tuesday, December 14, 2021, at various Junior High Schools (JHSs) in the country.
Parents and guardians of candidates who sat for the 31st edition of the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) have been urged to take a keen interest in the school selection process to ensure a peaceful and smooth placement.
