The Ghana Education Service (GES) following the sudden demise of a final year student of the Gwiraman senior high school (SHS) has said the school authorities are not to be blamed for the incident.
The Service in a statement signed by the Head of Public Relations Unit at the Ghana Education Service, Cassandra Twum Ampofo said the final year student did not die on campus as it has been reported.
The Education Service in the statement said it was after the school authorities of Gwiraman SHS called to check up on him, that they were told of his death.
The management of the Service in the statement urged the media to properly check it’s facts “before publishing their stories in order not to create fear and panic among the public.”.
It further explained the late Nathaniel Yankey, 21, was staying in a private hostel and not on campus.
The deceased was pronounced dead on Wednesday after he was rushed to the Essikado Hospital.
Currently, the cause of death of Nathaniel is not yet announced but his mother Mena Adjoa Esson believes the negligence of the Gwiraman SHS management leads to the death of her son.
According to Ms. Esson, several requests for the school authorities to dismiss her son home proved futile.
