Ghana’s former Education Minister has announced to award a full scholarship to 5 candidates from each of the five Senior High Schools in North Tongu constituency who performed excellently in the 2020 WASSCE.
Hon Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa on social media said: “I have conveyed my decision to the North Tongu District Education Director, Mr Godwin Amelor to the effect that I am increasing the number of beneficiaries on the MP’s Scholarship Scheme.”
He added that “this year, five best performing WASSCE candidates (two males and three females) from each of our five senior high schools (a total of 25 students) will receive a full scholarship for the entire duration of their tertiary education”.
According to him, the package is in addition to his intervention is to ensure all orphaned and vulnerable WASSCE candidates in his constituency automatically qualify for full tertiary scholarships.
The leading member of the main opposition party noted some 200 candidates have benefited from his scholarship scheme since he became the Member of Parliament for the North Tongu constituency.
