The management of the Mpraeso Senior High School (SHS) in the Kwahu South District of the Eastern Region has reportedly isolated 9 students suspected to have tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

According to the Kwahu South Director of Education, Ofosu Kwakye, the 9 students have been isolated and awaiting the results of the suspected cases

“They have been isolated from the rest of the students and their samples have been taken [as of Tuesday]. All the samples were sent to Accra for confirmation.

“We are waiting for the lab result to come so we know the situation,” Mr. Kwakye said.

He furthered that the management of the Mpraeso SHS has put in place adequate measures to ensure the safety of the large populace of the students in the school.

Since the reopening of school for final year students in the country, there have been a series of coronavirus cases reported in some schools.

A jointly released statement by the Ghana Education and the Ghana Health Service confirmed the reported cases of COVID-19 at the Accra Girls Senior High School.

The Service in the statement said it has deployed some over 200 trained personnel from the Ghana Health Service and Ghana Education Service to assist in handling coronavirus cases in schools across the country.
