Michael K Williams Biography
Michael K Williams’s parents were a Bahamian mother from Nassau and Booker T. Williams, an American from Greeleyville, South Carolina where his African-American family has deep roots. He was in the projects in East Flatbush, Brooklyn called Vanderveer Projects. He had his education at Geroge Westinghouse Career and Technical Education High school.
He later enrolled at the National Black Theatre in New York City.

Career
Michael got a job at Pzifer pharmaceuticals at temp. He left school and quit his job against the wishes of his family to pursue a career as a dancer after being inspired by Janet Jackson’s Rhythm Nation 1814. He went from record labels and dance studios looking for work and got a job as a background dancer for George Michael and Madonna and some modeling work.
As a model, he worked with David LaChappelle. He got acting opportunities through his stint as a model when he was noticed by Tupac Shakur in a production polaroid photoshoot. He played the brother and benchmark to Tupac’s character in the film Bullet.
His breakthrough as an actor came about when got the chance to play Omar little in the popular HBO series The Wire. He got the part after a single audition. He played that role with wit and humor and made the character more relatable to the audience. In 2008, President Obama stated that his favorite television show was The Wire and his favorite character was Omar.
For his portrayal as Omar, he won so many awards and got recognized by big Hollywood producers. On the downside of this popularity, Michael developed a habit of smoking cannabis and addiction to cocaine in 2004. He sought help from a ministry in Irvington.

And since then, he got more acting opportunities, playing a wide range of characters. He was notably also recognized for playing openly LGBTQ+ characters.
Personal Life
He has three children. He never got married.
Death
Michael overdosed on fentanyl, p-fluorofentanyl, heroin, and cocaine. He was found dead by his nephew at his apartment in New York on September 6, 2021. A private funeral was held for him at t St. Stephen’s Episcopal Cathedral in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, where his mother resides. When the news of his death broke out, celebrities took to their social media to share their heartfelt tributes to him.
