Kid Cudi Biography
Kid Cudi was born Scott Ramon Seguro Mescudi in Cleveland, Ohio, on January 30, 1984, to Elsie Harriet, an African-American and Lindberg Scott Mescudi, a house painter of African-American and Mexican descent. He lost his father when he was 11 years, his passing had a significant impact on his life and music.
He had his education at Shaker Heights High School for two years before transferring to Solon High School. He was expelled from school after threatening to punch his principal. He also went ahead to study film at the University of Toledo but dropped out after a year. His subsequent plan to join the Navy did not pan out because of his juvenile police record.
He began rapping in the year 2003, towards the end of his high school education. He was inspired by alternative hip hop groups such as The Pharcyde and A Tribe Called Quest. He later moved to New York City to pursue a music career. He left Cleveland in 2005 with $500 and demo tape. He worked at a couple of clothing stores in Manhattan before sharing an apartment with friend and collaborator Dot da Genius in Brooklyn
He met Kanye West in 2006, who signed him to his record label GOOD Music in 2007. He subsequently went on to release mixtapes and singles the following years.
He ventured into acting when he guest-starred on the American television show One Tree Hill as himself. He starred in short films before acting in independent films. He has gone on to star in an array of film and tv projects.
Kid Cudi’s daughter was born in 2010 and was in a custody battle throughout 2012. He gave up the battle when it was revealed that he was an absentee father and a drug abuser. He believes in God but is not religious.
