According to the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), professional teachers in the various subject areas are commissioned to set the questions for the conduct of the annual WASSCE and BECE for School Candidates.
The Council’s clarification follows claims that it contracts the third party’s to set the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) and Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) questions for candidates.
Speaking in an interview monitored by Georgeweb.org, the Head of School Examinations at WAEC indicated the yearly examination questions for candidates are set by Ghanaian teachers and not foreigners as speculated.
“The examination questions are set by our own teachers, we do not go and hire people from the ‘moon’ to come and do that for us”, Mr Godfred said.
The WAEC official added that “candidates should make sure they take their studies seriously, whatever they were taught they should be serious with it, the WAEC set the questions based on the topic they were taught in school”.
Mr Godfred Addo further advised prospective candidates to be careful of the unscrupulous person who claims to be working with the Council and promise to leak the BECE or WASSCE questions to them online at a fee.
