As the misconduct of students sitting for this years WASSCE keeps rising, Accra-based Starr FM has reported that some candidates partaking the examination have clashed with invigilators at Bright SHS in Akyem
The candidates clashed with the internal invigilators is due to an alleged intimidation from the supervisors, an act the candidates say is affecting them psychologically consequently unable to write the examination.
However, a timely intervention by the Akyem Tafo police personnel and some BNI officials helped restore calm in the centre Thursday morning.
According to the candidates, external invigilators supervising the conduct of the examination have been very strict disallowing them to even go out to urinate.
In a related story, reports indicate that a similar tension is developing at Only Believe Senior High Technical School, a private school in Akyem Kukurantumi over alleged intimidation.
An estimated number of 1,000 candidates are sitting the examination in the school of which some on Wednesday demonstrated against the situation making them uncomfortable in writing the test.
The candidates on Thursday after social studies paper reportedly deflated the car tyre of an Invigilator identified as Mr Acheampong in charge of a car with registration number AS 1471-X.
The Private schools are making allegations that the many deployment of invigilators to schools has political reasons.
They believe it is an attempt by government to make private schools unattractive to discourage patronage by students not happy with quality of Education in Public Schools.
A teacher who spoke to the media on condition of anonymity said: “We are not happy about the deployment of many external invigilators to private schools on how they are intimidating our students”.
He added that “Psychologically it is affecting the students and we think it is politics just to influence the performance of private schools to make it unattractive for Public Schools enjoying Free SHS to have glory”.
