The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) as part of measures to curb and slow the spread of coronavirus has introduced the use of mobile money for easy payment of registration fees for private candidates examination namely: the WASSCE for Private Candidates and BECE for Private Candidates.
The Council’s new payment method is to solve challenges usually faced by students and the general public during payment of fees at the bank or buying of scratch cards.
According to the Examination Council, private WASSCE or BECE candidates after going through the registration process online will have the option of dialing *944# and use any of the mobile money platforms to pay their fees.
The safe and easy payment process has provided an opportunity for candidates in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic to register for the examination and make payments without necessarily going to the bank.
The service is available on the major recognized networks including MTN, Airtel/Tigo, and Vodafone.
