The Management of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has cautioned candidates who sat for this year’s BECE and are currently having their subject results under scrutiny to desist from result upgrade.
The Council on December 16, 2020, released the provisional results of final year students who sat for the national examination but said has withheld results of others amid their alleged involvement in exam malpractice.
A WAEC official in an interview monitored by Georgeweb.org noted her outfit has started investigations into the matter and will in due course communicate the outcome to candidates and members of the public.
According to her, the Examinations Council after the investigation will release results of graduates not found culpable.
The non-profit-making organization however on social media has warned affected graduates to be wary of examination result upgrade.
It said the results upgrade is an activity of some unscrupulous individuals who claim to be officials of the council who promise to change the grades for a fee.
Prospective graduates are therefore urged by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) to report such person to the police or the council when contacted.
