UCC SRC denies spending GH63k on a shed and consulting legal action against the said reports against them.
The University of Cape Coast‘s Students Representative Council (SRC) has dismissed reports by some online news portals claiming SRC officials spent GH63,157 on a shed that cost less than GH7,000.
The University of Cape Coast SRC indicated in a statement signed by both the SRC and NUGS Presidents obtained by georgeweb.org that no such project costing the estimated amount quoted by several Ghanaian blogs and news sites has been conducted on or off-campus.
“We write to state that the UCC SRC has not undertaken any project of that nature costing the amount reported by some blogs and news outlets”
“The SRC and the Local NUGS of the University of Cape Coast categorically deny this slanderous report and absolve themselves and their leaders of any culpability for it.”
“The SRC and the Local NUGS would like to state unequivocally that no such project has been executed, and that the news item is a ploy to tarnish the good name of the UCC SRC/Local NUGS.”
Executives of the SRC are currently working with the university’s legal counsel to identify the best course of action in response to the false claims leveled against the Cape Coast-based public university, according to the SRC.
“We are currently consulting with our legal counsel to determine the next course of action in this matter.”
“we ask that all students maintain their confidence in the SRC and local NUGS as we have their interests at heart.”
