No automatic promotion for school children in 2021 – Adutwum

A Deputy Minister of Education, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum has debunked reports indicating all students will automatically be promoted to the next level when the next or 2020/2021 academic year begins in January 2021.
The teaching Minister’s clarification follows the publication by some online news portal misconstruing what he originally said in an interview with the Kumasi-based Hello 101.5 FM monitored by Georgeweb.org on issues of promotion of pupils in the next academic year in 2021.
According to the Member of Parliament for Bosomtwe Constituency, he did not state that there shall be an automatic promotion when school finally resumes in January as scheduled by the Ghana Education Service (GES).
The Deputy Education Minister speaking in the interview was explaining how the Ministry of Education (MoE) may adopt suitable International Best Practices used to reclaim lost contact hours that happen as a result of emergencies like hurricanes and pandemics when school finally resumes
Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, consequently urge members of the general public to disregard and treat the said publication as skewed and misleading.
