BECE: Supervisors involve in exams malpractice arrested – WAEC

Some supervisors associated with the conduct of the 2020 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) have been arrested for assisting students to cheat in the ongoing national examination, WAEC spokesperson has said.

Mrs Agnes Teye Cudjoe speaking in an interview confirmed that the mathematics question paper which was administered today September 17 leaked on social media before the conduct of the examination at 9:00 am

She also said, the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) have arrested some supervisors who according to the Council were caught taking shots of question papers with a mobile phone while the examination was in process.

The Public Relations Officer, WAEC further revealed that WAEC officials at Obuasi on September 16, 2020, arrested some teachers who allegedly had collected a sum of GHC2.00 and GHC1.00 from students to help them during the examination, an act the ExaminatiCouncil had cautioned against.

The 30th edition of the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) which commenced on Monday, September 14, 2020, is expected to end Friday, September 18, 2020, at the 2,007 centres across the country.
