GES recruitment: NAPO reveals subject teachers needed most in SHSs

According to the Minister of Education, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh widely known as NAPO, it is increasingly difficult to find physics subject teachers to teach prospective students in various Senior High Schools in Ghana.
The Manhyia South Member of Parliament disclosed the current situation in Senior High Schools (SHSs) speaking on the Accra-based Peace FM’s Kokrokoo show monitored by Georgeweb.org with host Kwame Sefa Kayi.
Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh revelation comes after the Ghana Education Service was accused of recruiting non trained graduate teachers, a claim NAPO debunked and said: “all graduates recruited are trained teachers”.
He furthered that universities like the University of Education (UEW), the University of Cape Coast (UCC), University for Development Studies (UDS) train over 14,000 graduate teachers a year for employment.
“However, it is increasingly difficult to find physics and Information and Communications Technology (ICT) subject teachers to teach students in secondary schools in the country”, he told host Kwame Sefa Kayi.
Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh later in the interview admitted the fact that the Ghana Education Service (GES) service in some circumstance recruits non trained graduate teachers to fill vacancies for students to be thought.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Education Service (GES) will on Monday, November 2, 2020, reopened the recruitment portal for graduate teachers from various universities to submit their application for employment into service.
