The Executive Director Ghana National Council of Private Schools (GNACOPS), says private schools are not fully prepared to receive second-year students despite the President’s directive for them to return to school.
His Excellency Nana Akufo-Addo in one of his nation’s addresses announced for form 2 students in Junior High School (JHSs) and Senior High School (SHSs) to return to school on October 5, 2020.
He indicated that Junior High Schools (JHSs) will operate with a class size of 30 and Senior High Schools (SHSs) with a class sizes of 20 in observance to social distancing and adherence to the novel coronavirus safety protocols.
But, the Executive Director speaking on Atinka FM’ AM show monitored by Georgeweb.org noted Private schools have only completed over 50% preparation to receive the students.
According to him, private schools in the country need funds to complete the other 50% preparations which will be difficult amid lack of funds.
“There are a lot of measures to be put in place to receive the form 2 students but as it stands I can only say that we are just about 50% prepared”
Mr Gyetuah furthered that “there a lot of things that the schools need to do for the teachers before the students return to school but due to lack of funds, it’s becoming very difficult”
