The Minister of Education, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh has advised headmasters and headmistresses in various schools to desist from sacking students from school because they owe Parent-Teacher Association (PTA dues.
The Education Minister speaking in an interview monitored by Georgeweb.org said any head of school found guilty will be sacked.
Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh’s advise comes after the President of the Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary School (CHASS) Alhaji Yacoub A. B. Abubakar said the Free SHS has collapsed the Parent-Teacher Association
The Manhyia South Member of Parliament noted the Akufo-Addo government has absorbed all expenses of students, consequently, no headmaster or teacher has the right to sack a student for owing PTA dues.
According to him, the government has taken care of uniform, textbook, exam fees, revision notes, among others of the Free SHS beneficiaries.
NAPO further said headmasters were not sent to schools to collect Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) dues or levies but to ensure the smooth day to day administration of the school.
He urged parents to report headmasters and headmistress who prevents their wards from attending classes amid their failure to PTA dues.
