According to the Director-General Ghana Education Service (GES), Professor Kwasi-Opoku Amankwa SHS placement of candidates is based on the four core subjects and any other two well-performed elective subjects.
Speaking in an interview with the Accra-based Atinka 104.7 FM monitored by Georgeweb.org, Prof Kwasi-Opoku Amankwa said the SHS placement is not based on courses or programmes but rather elective and core subjects.
The Director-General explaining the placement process said candidates are placed into any of the schools base on the core subject which are English Language, Core Mathematics, Social Studies and Integrated Science.
The Professor added that aside the four core subjects, any of the candidates two elective subjects he or she performed well is also considered.
The selection of schools for admission into Senior High Schools which commenced on Monday, September 21 is expected to end on October 31.
