As the selection of schools ends October 31, the Ghana Education Service has urged parents and guardians assisting their wards in the process to sign the school selection form after the preferred 5 schools have been chosen.
This according to the Ghana Education Service (GES) and the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) Secretariat is to ensure a smooth placement of prospective candidates into various Schools (SHSs, SHTSs, TVETs).
The Service in a video sighted by Georgeweb.org indicated various Senior High Schools (SHSs), Senior High Technical Schools (SHTS) and Vocational Technical schools across the country have been grouped in 5 categories.
The categories are Category A, Category B, Category C, Category D and Category E. Candidates are requested to select their first, second and third choice of school from only Category (A, B, C, E) in other of preference.
According to the Ghana Education Service, candidates can only select one school from Category A, and two for Category B. However candidates first, second and third choice can be selected from Category C and E.
It is mandatory for every candidates to select one (1) Senior High Technical School and Vocational school and program from Category E. The Category E consist of all public Senior High Technical Schools and Vocational schools.
Prospective candidates are recommended to select at least one (1) school from Category D, which consist of day Schools. Parents must ensure their ward selects a school that is not too far from their area, district or region.
Candidates are requested to select 5 schools, guardians and parents are consequently urged to assist their children in filling the school selection form and sign before submitting to their ward Junior High School (JHS).
