The Management of the Ghana National Service Scheme (NSS) says all personnel who are completing their one-year mandatory national service are to request for their certificate only online from the Scheme.
The Scheme in a statement copied to Georgeweb.org said it has introduced a digital certificate collective to make it possible for completing service personnel to request their certificate.
The National Service Scheme’s decision to digitalize the collection of certificates is to reduce human to human or physical contact amid the outbreak of the global pandemic that has claimed 270 lives currently.
The Executive Director of the Scheme, (NSS) Hon. Mustapha Ussif explaining the process said the NSS Digital Certificate is distributed as a password-protected document to a valid email address of the personnel.
The Member of Parliament for Yagaba Kubori Constituency furthered that it has been secured with encrypted information about its origin, owner, issuance date, and authenticity.
Hon. Mustapha Ussif noted the new collection system is in replacement of the age-old challenge of stockpiling old uncollected certificates in NSS regional offices making it increasingly difficult to serve new personnel.
“It provided a comprehensive inventory system to ensure proper filing of certificates and also improve the management of certificates by a central web system. This is to ensure full accountability for every certificate”.
According to him, the NSS in partnership with major courier companies in the country has been able to fulfil over 40,000 certificate delivery requests to date, reducing operational overhead for the regional offices by 15% Year-on-Year.
He said completing personnel for this year (2020) are to submit online requests ONLY for their certificate request and they would get a digital copy, and a hard copy delivered to their address. The service can be accessed here at https://www.nsscertificate.com.
“We are in times where we have to be able to serve more people with fewer resources. Thus, service delivery has to be the beacon of our engagement with NSS personnel, and we would continue to innovate aggressively around the changing needs of our personnel and the peculiar challenges of our environment,” he added.
