According to Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, some newly trained teachers who completed College of Education in 2017 and 2018 were not recruited by the Ghana Education Service because they had issues with their results.
The Management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) in mid-July this year announced the recruitment of trained teachers who completed the College of Education (CoE) in 2017 and 2018.
The Education Service in a statement copied to Georgeweb.org indicated a qualified teacher must complete the one-year mandatory National Service, passed teacher licensure and have no outstanding or referral paper.
Speaking in an interview monitored by Georgeweb.org, the country’s current Minister of Education, NAPO said some of the graduate teachers where not considered for recruitment amid problems with their results.
He said the Ghana Education Service (GES) was given a financial clearance to recruit all newly trained teachers who completed the College of Education (CoE) in 2017 and 2018 except for those with results problems.
NAPO further disclosed that teachers who complete College of Education results are declared by the University of Cape Coast adding that a teacher whose result will not be submitted by UCC to GES will not be recruited.
