According to the Minister in charge of Education, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the Ghana Education Service (GES) has decided not to promote all teachers who went for post-graduate without permission from the Service.
The Education Minister speaking on Peace 104.3 FM’s Kokrokoo show monitored by Georgeweb.org with host Mr Kwame Sefa Kayi said many of the teachers went for post-graduate and others without seeking permission.
Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh noted that some teachers even though asked for permission but did courses not in relation to what they teach in school,
NAPO suggested that they should have done their masters on the subject or course they were employed to teach.
“You teach French in your school but when you went for M.B.A, you did M.B.A in finance”, he told Sefa Kayi adding that “the Management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) on this basis can not promote a teacher”.
“So the Ghana Education Service like everybody else’s business will find it difficult to promote such teachers automatically”, Dr Matthew stressed.
The Manhyia South Member of Parliament, however, indicated all teachers who seek permission from the Service have been duly promoted.
