MoE announces date to recruit headmasters for ‘new’ STEM schools


The Ministry of Education (MoE) August this year will recruit headmasters for the almost completed 20 STEM centres across the country, the Minister responsible for Education in the country, Dr Osei Yaw Adutwum has disclosed.

Speaking in an interview monitored by EducationWeb.com.gh, Dr Osei Adutwum said the STEM schools would be in full operation to admit students in the next academic year scheduled for January 2022.

“The school in 2022 will start admission but what we are going to do now is to frontload the Management aspect of it, to begin the recruitment of the headmasters, so in August every school will have a Headmaster,” he stated.

The head of the STEM schools, Dr Osei Adutwum said will ensure all the needed facilities including materials for teaching are available in the school before effective academic activities began in January 2022.

“Every one of these schools has 12 science laboratory, ICT laboratory and a library fully stocked with books, so all chemical supplies and equipment for teaching and learning will be ready before the school reopen,” he stated.

Amid the outbreak of the global locally transmitted coronavirus pandemic, the Ministry of Education (MoE) has scheduled for the next academic year to commence in January 2022 instead of September 2021.
