KNUST: RP Baffour 2021 Memorial Debate Finals Rescheduled.

Robert Patrick Baffour was the first Vice Chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). He was a Ghanaian engineer, a politician, and university administrator. He was also a forerunner in the field of engineering education.

The KNUST Debate Society organizes the RP Baffour Memorial Inter Hall Freshers Debate Tournament every year. In honor of him, this competition is being held. It’s been 8 years since the competition began.

This year’s tournament, the 9th, is packed with Halls hoping to make history by becoming the first Hall to win the trophy for the first time, joining the two-time champions, or becoming the first Hall to win the trophy for the third time.

The competition started on May 24, 2021, and was scheduled to finish on May 29, 2021. The tournament finals was first rescheduled to Sunday, October 30th, due to circumstances beyond the Debate Society’s control.

The organizers have again rescheduled the tournament finals to 5th June, 2021. This gives the finalist more time to prepare for the tournament. The tournament has so far recorded a large attendance and has seen interests from the various Halls of Residence.
