Juaben SHS students demonstrate over strict WASSCE invigilation
The Ghana Police Service has deployed some personnel to the Juaben Senior High School (SHS) in the Ashanti region after candidates of the school staged a demonstration against the management of the school over strict invigilation and supervision during the conduct of Integrated Science.
Some prospective candidates who spoke to GeorgeWeb on the street said they could not write the core subject because none of what they studied was featured in the Integrated science question.
However, ACP Stephen Tane Ngissah in an interview with Kumasi FM monitored by GeorgeWeb said a team of police personnel have been deployed to the school to ensure calm is restored as the candidates sit for Leather work and ICT (elective) paper today.
In a related story, candidates of Tweneboa Kodua Senior High School (SHS) after writing the theory aspect of the Integrated Science also demonstrated and vandalised some properties of the school.
According to them, their headmaster was too strict in his invigilation during conduct of the Integrated Science, an act they believe is intimidating and to make them fail.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Education Service in a statement advised all prospective candidates to be of good behaviour as they sit for their final examination, adding that their misconduct in the examination hall could lead to cancellation of their subject results.
The Director-General of the Service, Professor Kwasi Opoku-Amankwa in an interview with the Accra-based Joy FM condemned the act of violence.
