Intervention allowance will be paid soon – GES DG assures teachers


The Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES) says the payment of the ‘delayed’ intervention allowance of teachers in Senior High Schools is being worked on and will be paid in due course to the teachers duly.

Prof Kwasi Opoku-Amankwa announced this in his address to some final year students in the Eastern Region preparing to sit for the impending West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

Commending teachers for their enormous contribution to the excellent performances in last year’s WASSCE, he urged the teachers to continue with their good works for intervention allowance is being worked on and will be paid soon.

The Director-General said amid Covid-19 his outfit could not organize the annual workshop for core subject teachers, however, master trainers have been put together to do a recording of lessons in the core subjects which will be given to schools to aid teaching and learning.

Prof Kwasi Amankwa advising the Form 3 students encouraged them to avoid n-disciplinary conduct and be diligent in their preparations towards the forthcoming WASSCE for School examination slated for August this year.

“Try and overcome distractions. Remain focused on the ultimate goal as you take full advantage of the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) policy for your future success”, Prof Opoku-Amankwa told the finalist.
